Jason's off to Calgary!

Well today was the day - Jason's flight went out at 7:20 this morning so we decided to drive up last night in a, at times, blinding snow storm. The normal 2 hour 15 minute trip took us 3 1/2 hours. Of all the times to finally get winter weather! It was a tearful (yup - I was all weepy) goodbye as we sent our boy off to the wild west where we know he'll do great. That doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye, though. On a brighter note, he called to say that he had arrived safetly at his hotel and was getting ready for tomorrows 'orientation'. He starts work on Monday so, hopefully, he'll be able to find somewhere to live in the next few days. Watch for updates!

Go west young man!

How quick they grow up! Seems like this was just yesterday, not almost 25 years ago. On Tuesday we take Jason to the airport to head off to Calgary and a good job with SuperStore. I'm of mixed feelings about this - happy because I think it's a great opportunity and experience and sad because it's so far away. Only 5 hours you might say, however, for someone who is not fond of flying, that's quite a distance! Jason ask if I'm 'going to be all weepy' at the airport and I say 'probably' - that is a mother's prerogative! As our family scatters a little farther, it's nice to know we can keep in touch with our blogs. A big "Thank You" to Michelle for getting us all started on this.

Here's our first attempt with Frank's bread recipe - O.K. Frank, I know your second batch wins the award over this but we'll keep trying!

Off to the airport tomorrow!

We're off to the airport tomorrow to pick up our German friends, Manfred, Silvia and sweet little Aaron! They've been gone for 2 months and we're anxiously awaiting their return - we call Aaron our 'non-biological grandchild' and we love playing grandparents! He so sweet and so smart - his first language is German and he speaks fluent English with us. Manfred and Silvia are expecting baby number 2 in early April.

Guests coming tonight for #4 - Lots of plowing to do!

So no more bragging about no snow - we got plenty on Sunday - still not up to North Bay standards, but enough for us. Gary's hydraulics on the tractor decided not to work on Monday, but thankfully have started working again - good thing - company coming tonight. He's busy today getting the road and driveway cleaned out for guests coming to cottage #4 - a couple from B.C. coming for a month to look for property in this area.

Callie is not too sure about the snow.

The bunnies and ducks don't mind the snow - especially if its breakfast time.

Clementine and Willow are refusing to go out in that yucky white stuff - they prefer a lazy day in the barn instead.

Was I bragging too much about NO SNOW?

O.K. I guess I was bragging a little about no snow in Upper Clements! It certainly looks like winter today - though I guess this would be just a joke to Frank!

No snow in Upper Clements

Not to make you jealous or anything, Frank, but this was taken at supper time in Upper Clements. As you can see, no shovel required!

What a good big brother Frank was! This was taken a few (ha, ha!) years ago. Don't you just love Frank in a sailor suit?

Yes, we do get a little snow in Nova Scotia. Gary out cleaning up with the tractor. This was taken Friday after our big storm on Thursday which closed schools across the Maritimes. By today, Saturday, the snow was gone and we are back to green grass again. Rain in the forecast for Sunday - what a strange winter!
